Google SSO Update for Improved Compatibility

Summary:
To maintain seamless Single Sign-On (SSO) functionality following the deprecation of the Google Plus API, we’ve updated our integration with Google’s latest APIs. This update ensures continued support for both legacy and new Google SSO configurations with minimal disruption.

What’s Changed:

  • New APIs Used: We’ve replaced the deprecated Google Plus API with current Google APIs to retrieve user profile information.

  • Gender Data Requirement: Gender information is now optional and requires the Google People API. If not enabled, gender data will no longer be available.

  • User Information Consistency: Basic profile data (name, email) is reliably retrieved across both legacy and new SSO setups.

Customer Impact:

  • Legacy Customers: Most legacy configurations remain unaffected. However, gender information will only be available if the Google People API is enabled in the customer’s Google SSO configuration.

  • New Customers: New SSO setups are fully supported and will include basic profile data. For gender data, enabling the People API is required.

Security and Compliance:
All API communications follow data security best practices, maintaining privacy and compliance with data protection standards.
